Drama Workshops in Brooklands Primary

Over the past few weeks I have carried out a number of workshops with the some talented young people in the new Brooklands Youth Centre.  Working with a group of 15 budding stars, we started with some games.  'Zip zap Boing' was a real favourite.  We seperated the young people into groups and developed freeze frames to tell their favourite fairy tales.  After a few sessions we began to work on developing their own unique piece of theatre, based on some of the subjects that they wanted to explore.  Themes of bullying, anti-social behaviour, everyday life in Ballybeen and the summer were discussed and, from a number of improvisations and we began to find a narrative.  I will return to work with the group in September, with the hope that we will have a new and unique piece of theatre to perform in 'The Celebration of Youth' in October.  Watch this space...
